To see and hear. Tribute to ICOM IC-780.

The moment has come when I pay tribute to the amateur short-wave movement in such an unusual form.

The render depicts the legendary top notch amateur radio HF transceiver, developed in the end of 1980's by ICOM Inc., it made a revolution in the hi-end segment of radio communication devices by combining in one case a transceiver and a spectrum analyzer (on cathode-ray tube) that allows you to literally see what is happening on adjacent frequencies. Also, it was the first to implement a direct digital signal synthesis generator, the ability to simultaneously monitor 2 frequencies and tune with an offset bandwidth across the IF. This transceiver also gave birth to the best communication receiver ICOM R-9000, created on its basis, who served more than 2 decades for various goverment services. Even now all competitor brands is following main concepts of this radio.

Model IC-780 was firstly released only on Japan's market and after few time on west markets as model IC-781. The main difference is only in maximum output power and AC voltage input.
